Subject: Fun night, fun recording
I was the taper of this show. It's funny that it was 4 full years ago. I went with my buddies Matt and Tristan and Tristan's mom. It was a full house but the crowd was dead silent. The opera hall sounded great, and the recording turned out amazing. Great mix of all the instruments. I was fairly close, so the crowd noise wasn't that loud, just a few nearby clappers. A really great recording, I feel it is one of my best, and it was a very fun music filled day. That afternoon before the concert we all went to see Jack play at the parking lot of Lou's Records up in north county san diego (The recording of that set is also up on archive.org here: http://www.archive.org/details/jj2003-05-30.at831.lous.shnf ) so all in all it was a great day. Even got to go backstage after the set and hang with Jack and crew a little bit. These old recordings of mine really are audio memories.

Subject: Awesome
Fantastic show! The Bass thumps, as it should. Other than the croud being loud in the recording this show is perfect. Down load it now!

Subject: first download
this is my first download, and I must say I'm quite impressed with the sound quality, song selection, and level of performance. Sure there's a bit of crowd noise, but this is a live show after all. Maybe there are better shows to download, but I'd definitely recommend this one.

Subject: Sound quality could be better
Lots of crowd noise, a little muffled. But not bad, worth downloading.

Subject: The best live recording of Jack I can find!
I've heard or downloaded several of Jack Johhson's shows... and this is definitely the best in my collection. Sound quality is great, the crowd is energized, and the band is at their best. This is a show that I never grow tired of. Always puts me in a great mood. I'm not sure I'll ever find a better live recording of Jack unless he produces it himself.

Subject: Great True Music
This show is fantastic. It's music as it's meant to be played - from the heart in front of family and friends. I highly recommend this show - great setlist and quality.

Subject: Incredible Show!!! Thanks, Tyler!!!
This was my first downloaded live show. It is the next best thing to being there. I can't imagine a better JJ show - with friends and family in the house, it was like being on their front porch. The only thing missing was the sound of waves crashing in the background. Now we just need a JJ concert DVD!

Tyler, I really appreciate your effort in taping and posting this for us all to enjoy!

Subject: good shit
if you are new to jack. . . this is a great intro. he is honest, enjoying himself and a damn good artist. minus the clapping in between songs, you will have yummy ear candy if you down this. included are selections from both of his studio cd's. . . . with personality. a must have for the live set guru.

Subject: Great Show
This was the first JJ show I have ever downloaded and let me tell you it is absolutely spectacular. JJ is in San Diego performing for his friends and parents.

Notes

Notes:

* Jack solo
# Musical Youth cover
& Jimmy Buffett cover
@ Violent Femmes cover
^ Bob Marley cover
$ Sublime cover

the Sold Out Spreckles Theater holds 1,500 seats, and the crowd was lively and clapped along for tons of songs. Jack talked about some songs, took questions from the crowd, and played a lot of old and new songs in an intimate venue.

DJ Tropikal (Merlo) opened the show

Sound quality improves during 'bubble toes' as the entire crowd (including the taper) stood up, allowing a more direct line to the speakers. Everyone sat down again for the quiet jack solo encore though. The encore was played as one solid flowing set, very fluid.
